Postdoctoral Research Associate

Rui Zhang is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Geochemistry and Interfacial Science Group, Chemical Sciences Division, Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Rui received his B.Eng. and M.Eng. from Southwest Petroleum University (Chengdu, Sichuan, China) in the field of oil and gas reservoir engineering and hydraulic fracturing. Rui received his M.S. and Ph.D. from Pennsylvania State University in the field of unconventional resources. Rui spent about two years as a research associate at Penn State and about half a year as a visiting scholar in Neutron Scattering Division at ORNL. Rui mainly focused on fluid-rock interactions and pore structure characterization in unconventional reservoirs (coalbed methane and shale gas) at Penn State. After joining ORNL, Rui focuses on fluid-rock/mineral interactions and chemomechanics in geochemical systems.
