Megan Bunnell, a hot cell technician in the Radiochemical Engineering Development Center, joined ORNL in 2023. 

In her current position, Megan assists R&D staff in processing operations including dissolution, separation, and purification, as well as recovery and preparation of radioisotopes; provides support to research and development, testing, and field application of equipment and research and development of processes for combining/separating chemicals, compounds, and related products and materials using principles and technology of chemistry, physics, mathematics, engineering and related sciences; prepares clear and accurate documentation such as logs, data sheets, and check sheets for work done; uses tele-manipulators and specialized hot cell equipment for processing operations; and keeps work areas in a safe, clear, and orderly condition.

Megan was a Nuclear Machinist Mate in the U.S. Navy for 5 years. She received both the Armed Forces Service Medal and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.

She is pursuing a degree in nuclear engineering technology from Thomas Edison State University.
