Kristi L Bumpus

Bio

Kristi Nelson Bumpus joined Oak Ridge National Laboratory in 2020, after nearly 30 years in newspaper journalism. She is a science writer matrixed to the Isotope Science and Engineering Directorate.

Prior to coming to ORNL, Kristi wrote for the Knoxville News Sentinel for about 25 years total, much of that time spent covering health. She has worked for a number of other newspapers in the region as a reporter and copy editor. For her reporting, she won four national fellowships and numerous awards.

A Knoxville native, Kristi holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from East Tennessee State University.
